Would you like to use your gifts to develop contexts, spaces and opportunities for young people to explore the Christian faith and become believers, disciples and potentially leaders? Do you have a background or skills that will help you engage relationally, pastorally and evangelistically with young people?

About the role

This new role will focus on Christian mission with young people through sport and wellbeing. Specifically, using your gifts, you will:

  • Become actively involved in the local secondary school (e.g. pop-up church, assemblies, wellbeing lessons, sports sessions) and Year 6 of the primary schools;
  • Explore other ways in which young people can engage in sports and other activities that can enable them to encounter the gospel;
  • Discern the gifts of church members and build bridges between them and young people (e.g. learning support, friendships, mentoring, hospitality);
  • Develop a support team of Christians who can encourage, advise and help in practical ways.

The successful candidate will be a practising Christian who is:

  • Educated to A-Level, NVQ level 3 or equivalent;
  • An experienced coach / PE teacher with level 2 qualification in coaching (or willing to work towards this);
  • Experienced in working with young people and understanding their spiritual growth and development;
  • Able to build effective working relationships with various stakeholders (church, school, volunteers, partner organisations).
